With 15 million records sold, more than twenty albums released, and eight seasons as a judge on The Voice in France, Florent Pagny embodies an entire facet of French music. His “freedom of thought,” formerly a source of trouble, has since become a strength that has turned him into a point of reference, a source of wisdom, and a model of free will and of vocal ingenuity.

In order to crack the code of this unconventional artist’s popularity, the film adopts an original stance: following the footsteps of the singer through an immersion in France’s musical heritage.

Using television archives and Florent Pagny’s acoustic covers of iconic songs from the French repertoire, we will retrace his entire career, one that is closely intertwined with the history of French music.
